Integrating a board and software, the Magellan development kit offers both multi-axes and multi-motor control. It provides dedicated multi-axis motion control for dc brush and brushless, micro stepping, and pulse/direction motors and includes a four-axes, PCI-based motion card that provides user-selectable profiling modes. These include S-curve, trapezoidal, velocity contouring, and electronic gearing. It performs motor output signal generation, servo-loop closure, and provides PLC-style inputs and outputs for custom applications. Other features of the card include separately-programmable acceleration and deceleration values, parallel I/O CAN bus, serial point-to-point, multi-drop host communications, dual-loop encoder input, bi-quad servo filtering, multiple profile breakpoints, and servo trace. Price for the kit is $995. PERFORMANCE MOTION DEVICES INC., Lincoln, MA. (781) 674-9860.
