IAR Systems Exhibits Integrated Tool Suite At Embedded World

For the Embedded World exhibition, IAR Systems has announced that it will feature the recently released IAR PowerPac middleware family, IAR Advanced Development Kits for STR912 and LPC 2148, and IAR KickStart Kits for microcontrollers, including the latest ones for Luminary Micro Stellaris and for Renesas H8. Additionally, the company will be unveiling a new concept for an integrated suite meant to focus primarily on the needs of the developer.

IAR PowerPac for ARM is the first product in IAR's new middleware family that comprises a fully featured, small memory footprint (2-kByte), a real-time operating system (RTOS), and a versatile high-performance file system. It also introduces a new licensing model, ideal for cost-sensitive ARM-powered MCU applications, IAR says.

The IAR Embedded Workbench KickStart edition for Luminary Micro's ARM Cortex-M3-based Stellaris family of microcontrollers, which is available at no charge, now boasts a 32-kByte compiler that fully supports all of the available on-chip flash for three series of microcontrollers in the Stellaris family: the 100, 300 and 600 series.

IAR's KickStart kits are provided with the goal of making it easy to get started with an embedded application. The kits contain everything the developer needs to produce a prototype, including, in many cases, IAR VisualSTATE and a debug probe, as well as an evaluation board. IAR Advanced Development Kits go one stage further, with trace debugging and a version of IAR Embedded Workbench that allows the full memory of the particular device to be programmed, thus providing all the resources to develop a product, including IAR PowerPac where appropriate.
