Targeting electronic flow measurement and motion detection applications, the MSP430FW427 combines a low-power flash microcontroller (MCU) with a volume scan interface (Scan IF) and LCD driver. Its Scan IF state machines are fully programmable and can automatically perform functions previously assigned to software. The LCD driver supports up to a 96-segment display. Other features include a watchdog timer, brownout protection and supply voltage supervisor, two multi-channel PWM timers, and an analog comparator. In a 64-pin QFP with 32 KB of flash and 1 KB of RAM, the MSP430FW427 costs $4.45 each/1,000 The MSP-FET430P410 toolkit containing a JTAG interface, target board, and an integrated development environment. is also available for $99.
