Designed for use as an internal PC modem that connects to the motherboard using AC-Link, the ST-MC97 V.90 AC-Link World Modem chipset offers a low bill of materials, low power dissipation and a single software programmable design. The chipset consists of two ICs, the ST759MC Analog Front End and the ST952DAA Line Interface. A capacitive isolation barrier between the two isolates the line side from the PC side. Basic PC requirements for using the ST-MC97 chipset are a 166-MHz Pentium processor, 16 MB of RAM and Windows 98/2000. A complete reference design and application notes are available.
