Module Marches To Beat Of Web-Based Embedded Apps

Feb. 1, 2000

With its on-board 10Base-T Ethernet and its preloaded 2net software, the ICC104 board is expected to attract designers needing to develop a web-based embedded control system--2net is an embedded-based DOS web server that can monitor and control embedded devices in real-time using any web browser. In addition, Java applets can be added to the software mix to allow for real-time display and control of the embedded application. Other features found on this 80386SX processor-driven and AT- and PC/104-compliant board include analog and digital I/O, a power supply, solid-state mass storage, watch-dog timer, and serial and parallel ports. It is also preloaded with DR-DOS, an operating system needing only a small amount of memory. The highly loaded, PC/104 form factor board is said to significantly reduce time-to-market since little integration is required.
