The latest series in the FemtoClocks family of frequency synthesizers is the FemtoClock Next Generation, which feature very low phase noise and significantly improved power-supply noise rejection. The new FemtoClocks are fully customizable, standalone solutions that generate reference frequencies, allowing them to replace crystal and SAW oscillators in high-performance applications. The first device in this family, the 843N156-125, generates a 125-MHz single-ended output and a 156.25-MHz LVPECL output from one 25-MHz crystal, replacing two crystal oscillators on the board with one device. The typical rms phase-noise jitter for both frequencies is 400 fS, which is well within the margins of the jitter requirements of PCIe, Gigabit Ethernet, and 10-Gigabit Ethernet applications. Additional FemtoClock NG members will feature output frequencies up to 1.3 GHz. The new synthesizer comes in a 16-lead TSSOP. It is sampling now to qualified customers. The 843N156-125 costs $4.81 in quantities of 1000. INTEGRATED DEVICE TECHNOLOGY INC., San Jose, CA. (408) 398-9700.
