Targeting harsh-office and light industrial applications, the 586 series chassis measures 7" high (4U), 21" deep, and industry-standard, rack-mount, 19" wide. The chassis features 13 or14-slot ISA or PCI/ISA PICMG-compliant passive backplanes and comes with either a 320- or 400-W PS/2, auto-select 90- to 132-Vac or 180- to 264-Vac power supply. Two 3.5" x 1" and two 5.25" x 1.63" vertical, front-accessible peripheral bays and three 3.5" x 1.63" horizontal internal drive bays behind a latchable, or lockable as an option, transparent door. A positive- pressure cooling subsystem consists of two 90 CFM, 12-Vdc fans coupled with a removable, washable foam filter, and a power-supply exhaust fan. Standard front-panel controls and indicators include illuminated power on/off, reset switch, PS/2 keyboard connector, and five peripheral-activity LEDs. The rear I/O panel includes one five-pin DIN, two DB-9, one DB-25, one 68-pin SCSI, and two USB interfaces. Depending on backplane and power supply, prices range from $1295 to $1545.
