Power Connector Employs One-Piece Interface

May 1, 2002

The new Power-Edge connector is designed to bring power to a pc board through an edge card interface with three, seven or 10 contacts. This one-piece interface is rated at up to 5A and has contacts on .100" pitch. Built-in card latches on the PEC series connector increase the withdrawal force required for removing the power board. Optional alignment pins and locking clips can be used to ease the process of attaching the interface to the board. These one-piece interfaces are said to reduce cost by requiring the purchase and processing of only one component rather than two. Additionally, the company claims they have superior quality due to the elimination of bent pins typical of multi-component systems. Pricing begins at $0.10 to $0.15 per line.
