The WM8803 digital audio receiver and WM8802 digital audio transmitter promise users easy integration of 192-kHz S/PDIF into their designs. Targeted applications include consumer and professional audio/video receivers, DVD receivers, personal video recorders, and digital mixing consoles. The single-input WM8803 receiver decodes digital audio data with sample rates up to 192 kHz. Its output port allows users to access channel status, pre-emphasis information, input signal sampling frequency, sub-code Q data with CRC flags, and other status data. The WM8802 transceiver features a data input pin that can modulate data using its on-board PLL or with an external clock source. The device supports up to six data inputs and one data output that provides a number of flag outputs, including PCM data valid, de-emphasis, lock, and IEC 61937, DTS-CD/LD detection. Both devices are compatible with EIAJ CP1201, IEC60958/61937, S/PDIF, and AES3 standards, provide 5V tolerant digital inputs, and operate from a 3.3V supply. Available in either 24-pin TSSOPs or 48-pin SQFPs, prices for WM8803 and WM8802 are $3.71 and $4.85 each/10K, respectively. WOLFSON MICROELECTRONICS PLC, Edinburgh, UK. +44 (0) 131 272 7000.
