The e-CAM51_USB camera, from e-con Systems, houses a 5-megapixel pluggable autofocus camera module, the e-CAM52_5640_MOD, based on OmniVision’s OV5640 CMOS image sensor. The board supports GPIO and microphone with an integrated analog-to-digital converter. In addition, it is USB Video Class and USB Audio Class compliant, so it does not require any device driver installation on the PC side. The CMOS image sensor has an embedded ISP and features automatic image control functions including automatic exposure control, automatic white balance, automatic band filter, 50/60Hz automatic luminance detection, and automatic black level calibration. Target applications include Document Camera Visualizers, Interactive Teaching & Meeting Solutions, OCR, Scientific Research, Telemedicine/Health, Biometrics and Robotics. The parallel interface camera board offers support for a variety of processors with drivers for WinCE, Linux and Android. In addition to off-the-shelf solutions, the company also offers individually crafted custom designs. Samples of the e-CAM51_USB camera will be available starting June 18, 2012.
