Lead-free and RoHS compliant, the ML410 development platform is based on the Virtex-4 FX60 FPGA and provides a high-performance logic fabric, two PowerPC 405 processors, and a myriad of serial I/O with integrated transceivers. Delivered as an ATX form-factor motherboard, the platform includes 256 MB of DDR-II memory, 64 MB of DDR component memory, PCI Express and PCI 32/33 expansion connectors, two 10/100/1000 Ethernet PHYs, and interface ports for USB, Serial ATA, PS/2 keyboard/mouse, and RS-232. It allows two independent processing systems to exist on a single platform, a characteristic attributed to the dual processor sub-systems, each running VxWorks and using independent Ethernet channels. Additionally, the expansion connectors allow for user customization. For example, using the connectors to interface to a custom daughter card will allow access to eight additional transceivers and multiple LVDS pairs. The ML410 includes a library of documentation, reference designs, tutorials, source code, and schematics. Available now, price is $2,995. XILINX INC., San Jose, CA. (408) 559-7778.
