10-Gbps Transimpedance Amp Serves SDH/SONET Uses

Nov. 1, 1999
Claimed as the industry's first SiGe OC-192 transimpedance amplifier, the S3090 is a –5.2V, 10-Gbps device suited for long-haul, OC-192 SDH/SONET-based, dense-wave-division multiplexing (DWDM) and time-division multiplexing (TDM) applications.

The device offers single-supply operation, an adjustable output offset necessary for WDM applications, and a transimpedance of 1400 ohms. Power consumption is just 470 mW while external components are reduced to a decoupling capacitor and a photodetector. Input currents as high as 2.2 mA can be amplified with low duty cycle distortion.
