Touted as the industry's most advanced single-chip EuroDOCSIS (Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification) cable modem, the BCM3350 QAMLink Cable Modem chip supports both the EuroDOCSIS and North American DOCSIS standards. The chip reduces cable modem cost and complexity by integrating into a single chip all of the major silicon components required for a cable modem. Key components in the chip include: a DOCSIS/EuroDOCSIS 1.0/1.1based MAC and PHY; 80 MHz RISC CPU; USB transceiver; 10/100BASE-T Ethernet MAC and PHY; Full Internet Protocol Security module; high-speed Time Division Multiplex interfaces for support four voice channels or one video and two voice channels; and an optimized interface to firm's HomePNA 2.0 silicon. Packaged in a 352-pin BGA, the chip is priced at $50 each/10,000.
