DC to 20 GHz Distributed Amplifier Offers Low Noise Figure

Wideband GaAs MMIC distributed amplifier, operating from dc to 20 GHz, delivers greater than 15 dB gain with 1 dB corresponding output, +18 dBm compression point, and 2 dB at 10 GHz noise figure.

The CMD173P4 from Custom MMIC is a wideband GaAs MMIC distributed amplifier operating from dc to 20 GHz while delivering greater than 15 dB of gain with a corresponding output of 1 dB compression point of +18 dBm and noise figure of 2 dB at 10 GHz. Housed in a lead-free, RoHs compliant 4 x 4 mm plastic surface mount QFN package, the distributed amplifier also utilizes an on-chip pinch off tracking circuit to ensure consistent performance over temperature and process variation. The amplifier is a 50 Ω matched design, which eliminates the need for RF port matching, but requires some off-chip components to complete the bias network, which is typical of this amplifier topology. Suitable applications for the CMD173P4 GaAs distributed amplifier include microwave radio and VSAT, telecom infrastructure, test instrumentation and military EW subsystems.
