Fast digital bus switching in applications that require increased bandwidth and/or throughput is provided by the PI5X1018, an 18-bit, 10-port digital crossbar switch. The device provides a general, any-bus, any-architecture switch without the restrictions of proprietary alternatives. It's used primarily for switching large arrays of memory and processors. It replaces many small bus exchange switches to decrease system size and design complexity in high-throughput applications. The device's low propagation delay of 2 ns enables support for processor speeds of 133 MHz and higher with switching between ports at more than 66 MHz.
