Entering the market as the industry's smallest, triple-band GSM/GPRS transceiver modules, the STw3100 and STw3101 measure 1.4 mm x 7 mm x 7 mm in BGA packages. They integrate all necessary functions and require just a 26 MHz crystal and a power amplifier to build a complete triple-band system from antenna to baseband interface. The STw3100 supports European EGSM900, DCS1800, and PCS1900 bands while the STw3101 handles North American GSM850, DCS1800, and PCS1900 bands. Both rely on a highly integrated chip containing the transmitter, receiver, low-noise amplifier (LNA), voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO), digitally controlled crystal oscillator (DCXO), and synthesizer block. The modules also include the receive bandpass filters, RLC components, phase-locked loop filtering, decoupling, and dc-blocking functions. Target price for either transceiver is $4.
