Tailored for automotive infotainment systems, the FPD-Link III is hailed as the industry’s first Ser/Des chipset with high-bandwidth digital content protection (HDCP). The chipset supports in-car distribution of protected video/audio such as Blu-ray movies and consists of the DS90UH925Q serializer and DS90UH926Q deserializer, both of which carry digital video, audio, and bidirectional I2C control signals concurrently over a single twisted pair cable using the HDCP-protected interface. The DS90UH925Q (48-pin LLP) and DS90UH926Q (60-pin LLP) are sampling now and priced at $11.25 each/1,000. Production quantities will be available in the second quarter of 2011.
