A trio of high-density gigabit clustering managed switches in SMC Networks’ TigerSwitch family offer designers exceptional flexibility in system design. The TigerSwitch Standalone 26-port 10/100/1000 Managed Switch (SMC8126L2) provides four Combo ports. The 50-port SMC8150L2 also has four Combo ports, and the 24-port SMC8124PL2 includes two Combo ports and Power over Ethernet (PoE) capability. All three switches employ a state-of-the-art single-chip architecture to ensure wire-speed delivery of data packets while maintaining security through the use of SSL, SSH, and other security measures.

The switches permit IP clustering that facilitates grouping switches for efficiency and network extension with other SMC81-series Gigabit switches or SMC61-series fast Ethernet switches. All three support clustering of as many as 32 switches, providing application filtering and per-port bandwidth management complemented by MAC-based security. With currently available products, a total of 1664 ports can be managed as one system. The PoE capability offered by the SMC8124PL2 allows easier placement of network components and accessories like IP phones and cameras that require power.

The 26-port SMC8126L2 is available now at an MSRP of $999.99. The 50-port SMC8150L2 and 24-port SMC8124PL2 will be available this month at MSRPs of $1299.99 and $1199.99, respectively. Optional Gigabit transceivers, being the SX, LX, and ZX, are available at prices of $99.99 to $2804.99.
