The TFM150 Tunable Fiber Monitor is a wavelength-tunable high-resolution optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR) for optical fibers and components used in dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) optical communications. This device uses a precision micropulse-based laser output that's wavelength-tunable in the C band (L band in development).

The monitor's design reduces instrument "deadzone," letting it resolve optical events in fiber systems and components that may be only a few centimeters apart. Applications include testing of wavelength-sensitive optical components, including multiplexer, demultiplexer, and add/drop devices. The instrument measures insertion loss and return loss in both Rayleigh and Fresnel modes with virtually no deadzone. Pricing is $99,000. Lead time is 14 to 16 weeks.
