Said to be the smallest device of its type, the DD-00429VP provides a complete and flexible interface between a microprocessor and an ARINC 429 data bus. The device interfaces through a 128 x 32-bit static RAM, four 32 x 32 receive FIFOs and two 32 x 32 transmit FIFOs. It's easily interfaced to 8- or 16-bit processors by means of a buffered, shared RAM configuration. When configured with two of the firm's transceivers and line drivers, the interface IC can support four ARINC 429 receive channels and two transmit channels. Each of these channels can receive or transmit data independently, and receive and transmit data rates can be programmed independently. A zero-wait feature enables users to off-load the host processor, freeing them from time-consuming polling of the data bus.
