Low-cost point-to-point or multi-point high-speed data transfer in industrial and other electrically-noisy environments is said to be made possible with ISO422, an isolated differential bus transceiver that supports Fieldbus, RS-422, RS-485 and CANbus

Low-cost point-to-point or multi-point high-speed data transfer in industrial and other electrically-noisy environments is said to be made possible with ISO422, an isolated differential bus transceiver that supports Fieldbus, RS-422, RS-485 and CANbus systems. Providing full- or half-duplex communication at up to 2.5-Mbps rates over long distances, the new isolated bus transceiver is suited for use in industrial networks, PLCs, traffic signalling equipment, gas station pumps, point-of-sale terminals, and more. In addition to excellent noise performance, the chip is also said to exhibit a continuous isolation rating of 1500VRMS. a loop-back test capability, and dc correct operation- the latter ensures that ISO422 provides correct output levels at power-up and corrects any errors caused by high voltage interruptions across the isolation barrier. The transceiver can be used over a -40°C to 85°C range and comes in 24-pin single-wide PDIPs; a SMT version is also available.
