The second-gen WLANPlus chipset debuts as the first consumer-electronics grade, 802.11n-draft-compliant dual-band chipset. Designed to enable high-throughput, rich-content, quality-critical applications, the chipset forms the foundation for a full-coverage wireless home entertainment network. It supports both 2.4-GHz and 5-GHz networks plus the optional 802.11n specifications with functionality for streaming HDTV throughout the home, i.e., three MPEG2 HDTV streams at 60 Mb/s with whole-home coverage at 60'. To double network coverage, the devices feature a maximum-likelihood slicer and advance coding gain via low-density parity check technology. The chipset includes the MtW8170 baseband device and the MtW8150 RFIC. For more details and price, call METALINK INC., Norcross, GA. (678) 325-5430.
