Tailored for data networking and Internet address processing applications, the firm's CAM engine with longest prefix match (UTCAM-Engine LPM) minimizes longest prefix match searches required for efficient processing of IPv4 Classless Inter Domain Routing (CIDR) addresses. The device transforms conventional SSRAM or SDRAM into content-addressable memory, allowing users to create multiple lookup tables of virtually unlimited size for address processing.Running at 100 MHz, the LPM capability can typically process CIDR addresses in less than 250 ns with no limitations on table size. Users can further optimize performance by specifying the minimum significance length of the LPM table.
