Fully compliant with the DVB-T specification, the STV0360 is a single-chip coded orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (COFDM) demodulator that includes an integrated a/d converter. The chip performs all of the demodulation functions required to extract the MPEG transport stream from the tuner IF output and connects to the company's STi55xx Omega back-end chips.
Built using a 0.18µm CMOS process, the chip supports 2K and 8K carrier modes and operates from a 1.8V supply. The integrated a/d converter can handle up to 64 QAM (Quadrature Amplitude Modulated) carriers in a Direct IF Sampling architecture, eliminating the need for a down-converter in the tuner. The device also includes a PGA before the a/d converter to compensate for the SAW filter attenuation, so that no external IF amps are required. Pricing is $12 each/20,000.
