The ZRO0837H1LF voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) from Z-Communications operates from 830 to 845 MHz. It offers a tuning voltage range of 0.5 to 4.5 V with a tuning sensitivity of 7 MHz/V. Also, it boasts a typical phase noise of –120 dBc/Hz at 10-kHz offset. The VCO additionally delivers an output power of 1.3 dBm at 5.5 V dc while drawing 15 mA. Typical second harmonic suppression is –15 dBc.

Meanwhile, the company’s CRO3562A-LF VCO suits the S band and operates from 3560 to 3564 MHz with a tuning voltage of 1.5 to 4.5 V and a sensitivity of 8 MHz/V. Its phase noise is –112 dBc at 10- kHz offset, and its output power is 3.5 dBm at 5 V dc with a current draw of 17 mA. Typical second harmonic suppression is –35 dBc.

Both devices come in a 0.5- by 0.5- by 0.22-in. MINI-16-SM that’s ideal for automated surface-mount assemble and reflow. Applications include digital radio, fixed wireless, and satellite modems that need the ultra-low phase noise spec.
