Measuring 2 mm x 2 mm in a LPCC package, the MGA-412P8 E-pHEMT power amp for IEEE 802.11b/g WLANs operates from a 3.3V supply and delivers an output power of +23 dBm. The device is said to consume the industry’s lowest operating current. At 2.452 GHz, it provides 25.5 dB of gain as well as +19 dBm linear power output with IEEE 802.11g OFDM modulation at a 54 Mb/s data rate and 3% EVM while consuming 95 mA of current. For 802.11b CCK at 11 Mb/s, the device provides +23 dBm of linear power at 200 mA. Typical reverse isolation is greater than 40 dB and typical quiescent current is 40 mA. During shutdown the power amplifier draws 5 µA typical. Measuring 2 mm x 2 mm x 0.75 mm in an 8-pad JEDEC DRP-N LPCC leadless plastic chip carrier, price is less than $0.73 each in moderate volumes.
