The Harrier-XT is an intelligent protocol handling and controller IC for xDSL customer premise equipment, including integrated access devices supporting combined voice and data services. Based on the firm's TriCore 32-bit unified processor core architecture, the network processor is suited for both ATM and HDLC network termination applications. The device supports full-duplex xDSL sustained data throughput rates of 13 Mbps. This performance provides headroom for service offering upgrades from the ADSL rates that are typically available to individual and small-business xDSL subscribers now. The chip is implemented with a 50-MHz TriCore processor and a total of 48 kbytes of on-chip SRAM.
