The SG-BGA-8019 socket for 1.0-mm pitch BGAs is designed for a 35-mm package size and operates at bandwidth up to 10 GHz with less than 1dB of insertion loss. The socket dissipate 16 watts. Its swivel heat sink lid swings over the shoulder screw which is fixed in the socket body. Contact resistance is typically 20 milliohms per pin. The SG-BGA-8019 is constructed with low-inductance elastomer, and its temperature range is -40°C to +100°C. The pin inductance is 0.15 nH, capacitance to ground is 0.10 pF, and current capacity is 2 A per pin. The socket accommodates IC packages such as the IDT 35- x 35-mm, 1-mm pitch FCBGA. To install, users attach the socket to the PCB, drop in the chip, and place and tighten the swivel lid with heat sink. The elastomer socket technology, which works for BGA pitches from 0.3 to 1.27 mm, lets the BGAs operate to over 10 GHz without significant contactor loss. Pricing for the SG-BGA-8019 is $2178 with reduced pricing available on quantity rorders. IRONWOOD ELECTRONICS, Burnsville, MN. (800) 404-0204.
