With a 192 x 16 pixel sensor array measuring 9.75 mm x 0.81 mm, the AES2500 fingerprint slide sensor is small enough for use in PDAs and wireless devices. The sensor is heralded as the biometric industry’s first fingerprint slide sensor based on the company's patented TruePrint technology that allows fingerprints to be read below the surface of the skin. This approach eliminates recognition failures related to contamination such as dirt, dry skin, or moisture. The sensor operates on 2.4V with a finger sweep speed of 17 cm/s and draws less than 1 mA when detecting and less than 25 mA peak while imaging. Current consumption is less than 10 µA in standby. Other features include an operating temperature range from 0°C to 70°C, software support for Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP/CE and Symbian operating systems, and support for all industry-standard API’s. Hardware and software design kits are also available. Price is $6 each. For more details, call Jeff Lee at AUTHENTEC, Melbourne, FL. (321) 308-1300.
