With a dynamic range of 12 bits, the C7942 and C7943 are said to offer significant performance improvements over existing x-ray CMOS image sensors. This dynamic range reportedly eliminates the need to adjust the x-ray source beam current and tube voltage. Both sensors are designed with a single, 8" silicon wafer using CMOS technology that results in a fill factor of 90% and allows the readout amplifiers to be manufactured next to the sensor to reduce noise. Other features include a frame rate of 30 fps, an x-ray image resolution of 81 p/mm, and a digital output for quick setup. For prices, call HAMAMATSU CORP., Bridgewater, NJ. (800) 524-0504.
