Compact Capacitors Target Mobile Electronics

June 4, 2007
SII Micro Parts Ltd. has introduced the XH409H series of double-layer electrolytic capacitors designed for steady current-draw applications.

The XH409H series of compact double-layer electrolytic capacitors feature a bare-cell height of only 0.9 mm and a total height, with the standard laser-welded mounting tabs, of only 1.3 mm. The series, from SII Micro Parts Ltd., is RoHS- and WEEE-compliant and, as with the earlier XH414H series, boasts a long life and wide operating temperature range of −20°C to 70°C. Common applications include mobile phones, digital cameras, MP3 players, medical instruments, notebook computers, point-of-sale systems, two-way radios, cordless phones, and GPS.

The XH409H series is designed for steady current-draw applications, such as backing up RTC and SRAM circuits during sleep mode. For example, the XH409H-IV05E version is a lead-free reflowable model rated at 3 V nominal with a 0.05 F capacitance. The IV05E tab arrangement minimizes the height and overall footprint. Other tabs arrangements in the series do not exceed 1.5 mm in height.
