Components: Tantalum Polymer Chip Capacitors Operate At Up To 125°C

March 3, 2005
Tantalum polymer chip capacitors in the B4529W series are derated for, and can operate at, ambient temperatures up to 125°C (66% of the rated voltages of 2.5 to 10 V). This suits them for switching power supplies involved in large-scale integration

Tantalum polymer chip capacitors in the B4529W series are derated for, and can operate at, ambient temperatures up to 125°C (66% of the rated voltages of 2.5 to 10 V). This suits them for switching power supplies involved in large-scale integration of active and passive components in a minimum amount of space. They come in D, E, and V case sizes, with capacitance values from 100 to 680 mF. Equivalent series resistance (ESR) is typically less than 35 mV. A 220-mF, 620%, 40-mV ESR capacitor (the B45296W2227M52) costs $0.70 each in large volumes.
