Designed to protect VGA circuits from ESD, the PAC VGA105 VGA port protector incorporates seven channels of protection, implemented via current-steering diodes. The ESD current pulse is diverted via these diodes into the positive supply rails or ground for safe dissipation. Features include a typical capacitance of less than 5 pF, separate supply pins for graphics-controller ICs, high-impedance pull-ups for horizontal and vertical synchronization inputs, and pull-up resistors for clock and data lines. Two non-inverting buffers are also included for buffering the HSYNC and VSYNC signals from the graphics-controller IC. They accept TTL inputs and convert them to CMOS output levels that swing between ground and Vcc. Available in a 16-lead QSOP, price is $0.64 each/100,000.
