For small, denser modern packaging, this small cross-section of EMI gasketing is shape retaining with conductive elastomer. The insert and the surrounding material can be filled with a variety of conductive fillers depending on the shielding effectiveness required, galvanic compatibility, environmental concerns, and cost. The relatively rigid insert maintains the gasket in the desired shape and is easily dropped into applications. The gaskets can be formed into a variety of shapes and sizes and can be produced for high-volume commercial applications via injection molding.
