High-Temperature, High-Shock Oscillator Suits Downhole Applications
June 11, 2012
Crewkerne, U.K.: The LHAT series high-temperature clock oscillators from IQD Frequency Products operate in environments up to 200°C. Their gold-plated kovar leads are attached using a eutectic brazing process, which reduces thermal and mechanical mounting stress and makes them suitable for the harshest downhole environments (see the figure).
The gold-plated kovar leads on the LHAT series clock oscillators from IQD Frequency Products are attached using a eutectic process that reduces thermal and mechanical mounting stress, making the devices suitable for the harshest downhole environments.
The oscillators are available with a frequency range of 320 kHz to 50 MHz with a frequency stability of ±100 ppm (25°C to 150°C) or ±175 ppm (25°C to 200°C). Operating at 3.3 V, this CMOS output clock oscillator can withstand a shock up to MIL-STD-202G Method 204D condition D. The oscillators in the series come in a 7- by 5-mm dual hermetically sealed ceramic package.
