Linear Position Sensor Rests On 3D Hall platform

June 14, 2011
The AS5410 embarks as the first 3D Hall platform linear position sensor. It allows absolute position sensing of a two-pole magnet immediately after startup without the need for a reference run within the application.

The AS5410 embarks as the first 3D Hall platform linear position sensor. It allows absolute position sensing of a two-pole magnet immediately after startup without the need for a reference run within the application. Output remains stable even when the device is subject to stray magnetic fields. Programming the internal EEPROM allows the AS5410 to convert a wide range of geometries including curved movements, non-linear scales, and tilted chip/magnet geometries into a linear output signal. To achieve a linearized output with up to 0.5% accuracy, the device employs an internal linearization table with 33 base points. With production quantities available in the third quarter, pricing starts at $ 3.75 each/1,000. AUSTRIAMICROSYSTEMS USA INC., Raleigh, NC. (919) 676-5292.
