Reportedly unaffected by static or dynamic shaft loads up to 20N in both radial and axial directions, the RSC 2800 series non-contacting rotary sensors measure angles by detecting variations in the orientation of a magnetic field created by a magnet attached to the shaft. Custom circuitry performs field-orientation detection and filtering while providing an analog output proportional to angular position. The sensors specify a linearity of less than ±0.5% and provide a measurement angle range from 30° to 360°. Lifespan exceeds 50 million movements and repeatability is less than 0.03% of the output-signal range. Measuring 28 mm in diameter, other sensor features include protection to IP 65, an operating temperature range from -40°C to 85°C, and elongated slots on the housing to simplify mounting.
