Designed for switch-mode power-supply (SMPS) applications, including flyback, forward, push-pull, and half-bridge converters, the PLAC 100 is a user-configurable planar transformer offering broad flexibility. The supplied software allows designers to adapt the transformer to a wide range of applications by setting the power-supply type and desired level of input voltage, output voltage, power, and frequency. Once these variables are entered, the software does the rest of the work, automatically determining the appropriate configuration and determining which outputs should be connected to obtain the best performance. Typical applications for the PLAC 100 will include military, avionic, and medical systems, where its user configurability will save on engineering resources, speed time to market, and reduce sourcing and inventory costs. The frequency range for the PLAC 100 is 50 kHz to 400 kHz. The transformer can handle up to 220 W in SMD and through-hole versions. Operating temperature range is -55°C to +125°C. Samples and production quantities of the PLAC 100 are available now with lead times of six to eight weeks for larger orders. Minimum order quantity pricing starts at $80.
