With the miniature, 6.70 x 5.45-mm JS-1100 joystick switch, OEMs can build into cell phones, PDAs and other compact, LCD-equipped consumer electronics a navigating function for directing an on-screen pointer. The five-position JS-1100 Navigator Switch can make right, left, up, down and select maneuvers, enabling the device to replace the five discrete switches said to be commonly used in these applications. The surface-mount joystick has eight gull-wing terminations and two mechanical lugs to relieve strain on electrical connections. Each of the silver-plated contacts has a rating of 50 mA at 12 Vdc. The switch has an operating temperature range of -20°C to +70°C and an estimated mechanical life of 50,000 actuations in any direction. E-SWITCH, Brooklyn Park, MN. (763) 504-3525.
