The demanding over-voltage protection and small space requirements of sensitive CMOS ICs used in broadband communication and networking equipment are said to be exceeded by a new family of transient voltage suppression (TVS) devices. The GigaBit Series enables designers of cable modems, xDSL modems, and voice-over -IP products to design in effective protection from damaging ESDs, electrical fast transients and lightning surges without impeding data transmission rates. The GBIT08 Series are billed as the first TVS devices to integrate ESD protection for a two-line protection scheme into a single SO-8 surface-mount package.
