Based on the company's K-Shear design, the 8784A5 and 8786A5 low-impedance, voltage-mode accelerometers incorporate a ceramic sensing element. The advantages of a ceramic-shear design reportedly are low transverse sensitivity and insensitivity to transient temperature effects and mounting-base strain. Except for the location of the electrical connector, top and side, both units are identical in performance. Each unit has a measuring range of ± 5g, voltage sensitivity of 1000 mv/g, and a threshold of 0.0004gRMS.
