Claiming to set new industry benchmarks for lossless performance, the apt-X Lossless scalable, adaptive audio coding scheme boasts of outperforming FLAC audio compression. Reportedly the result of rigorous testing, performance advantages over FLAC include up to 10% more data reduction and time delays under 2 ms. Other features of the codec include sampling rates up to 96 kHz, sampling resolutions up to 24 bits, low computational complexity, run-time overhead, and power consumption, and portability across multiple hardware/software platforms.
