Audio SoCs Abet Sleek Flat-Panel TVs

Aug. 18, 2011
Adding to the Sound Terminal family of digital-audio SoCs, the STA381BW and STA381BWS for flat-panel TVs promise to reduce PCB sizes by integrating a headphone driver, line-driver output, and an independent DAC.

Adding to the Sound Terminal family of digital-audio SoCs, the STA381BW and STA381BWS for flat-panel TVs promise to reduce PCB sizes by integrating a headphone driver, line-driver output, and an independent DAC. The headphone driver and 2-Vp-p line out require no dc-blocking capacitors, further reducing PCB size and costs. Both devices deliver up to 15W of output power (24V into 8?) while maintaining an IC temperature at +55.4°C. The STA381BW and STA381BWS are available in 7 mm x 7 mm x 1mm, 48-pin VQFN packages, priced from $4 and $3 each/1,000, respectively. STMICROELECTRONICS, Lexington, MA. (888) 787-3550.
