In addition to claims of the industry’s best jitter performance, the LMK03806 clock generator  promises to trim component counts by as much as 80% percent and bill of materials (BOM) cost up to 50%. The device simultaneously synthesizes seven independent frequencies on 14 outputs. With an output spanning 2.37 MHz to 2.6 GHz, it supports all components on a line card. Features include a high-frequency VCO and programmable output dividers, jitter figure below 50 fsrms at 312.5-MHz out, a crystal interface, and programmable LVDS, LVPECL and LVCMOS. A companion, the LMK00301 differential fanout buffer/level translator accepts single-ended, differential, or crystal input and produces 10 buffered copies of the input clocks at frequencies up to 3 GHz in LVDS, LVPECL, or HCSL format. It features a 51 fsrms jitter at 156.25 MHz, and less than 30 fsrms at 312.5 MHz when paired with the LMK03806. Available in a 64-pin, 9 mm x 9 mm LLP, price for the LMK03806 is $7.95 each/1,000.
