Digital Gyroscope Breaks New Ground

Feb. 26, 2010
the L3G4200D three-axis gyroscope employs a single sensing structure for motion measurement along all three orthogonal axes

Representing a major breakthrough in MEMS gyroscope technology, the L3G4200D three-axis gyroscope employs a single sensing structure for motion measurement along all three orthogonal axes. Reportedly, this significantly boosts accuracy, reliability, and levels of realism. Groomed for remote-control apps, the device offers programmable full-scale ranges from ±250 dps to ±2,000 dps. Other features include a 16-bit data output, configurable low- and high-pass filters, and consistent output stability over time and temperature. With volume production coming at the end of the second quarter, price is $2.9 each/200,000. STMICROELECTRONICS, Lexington, MA. (888) 787-3550.
