ICs Add Flash & Logic To Embedded Systems

Three new MCU support ICs offer a low-cost means of adding external flash memory and programmable logic to embedded systems based on 8-bit CISC microcontrollers. The PSD813F chips all integrate 128 kbytes of flash memory, a programmable MCU interface, extra I/O, and, in the case of the PSD813F5, a special ISP decode PLD that facilitates MCU-controlled in-system programming. A second, optional 32-kbyte flash array is available on the PSD813F4 and 2 kbytes of optional SRAM is offered on the PSD813F3.The 3000-gate CPLD included on the ICs is large enough to implement various peripherals.
