Housed in 64- and 80-pin TQFPs, the PIC18FXX20 flash microcontrollers (MCUs) cram in 32 kbytes of flash memory, 2 kbytes of RAM, and 1 kbyte of EEPROM. Peripherals include an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) with up to 16 channels by 10-bit resolution, five capture/compare/pulse-width-modulation modules, up to 10-MIPS performance at 10 MHz, two 8-bit timers, three 16-bit timers and a watchdog timer (WDT), dual analog comparators, a parallel port, and two addressable USART modules with serial peripheral interface and I2C support. Additional features include a programmable 16-level low-voltage detection module (PLVD), 32-kHz secondary oscillator clock input, and a 4× phase-locked loop (PLL) for high-frequency oscillators. The MPLAB ICD 2 development kit is available for $188.
