Housed in a 13- by 22-mm, 159-contact, plastic BGA package, the W78M4V-XSBX flash-memory component provides 64 Mbytes of storage. That storage can be configured as either 8 Mwords by 64 bits, two banks of 8 Mwords by 32 bits, or four banks of 8 Mwords by 16 bits. A page-mode capability allows access times of as little as 25 ns and an eight-word-fast page read. Four access time ,speed grades are available for the module—70, 90, 100, and 120 ns. Simultaneous read/write functionality enables eight continuous reads from one bank while executing erase/program functions in another bank. There's zero-latency switching from read to write operations. In lots of 1000 units, the military-temperature-grade NOR module sells for $300 apiece. Delivery is six weeks after receipt of order.
