Adding to the company’s Smart Power family of power-management/audio devices, the WM8351 and WM8352 provide power management and audio functions, eliminating the need for two or more additional components. The simplified WM8351 targets lower-cost platforms while the WM8532 has the same capabilities as the WM8350, but offers extra configuration settings to support high-end designs. Both devices support the majority of application processors and, in addition to the nine pre-set start up and configuration settings, they offer a mode where complete control is available. Shared features include a high fidelity stereo CODEC with advanced mixing capability to deliver a 98-dB SNR, six analog inputs, two stereo analog outputs, two mono line outputs, programmable amplifiers, and a battery charger that supports both trickle charging and constant-current/constant-voltage charging of single-cell lithium batteries. The charge current, termination voltage, and charger timeout are programmable to suit different types of batteries. The WM8351 and WM8352 are available for sampling now and will be available in volume in the first quarter of 2009. Prices are $4.63 and $5.41 each/1,000, respectively.
