Breaking in as the VoIP market's lowest power, single-chip tuner, the MT2060 in a 0.25" square package operates from a 3.3V supply, while consuming just 1W. This represents a space reduction of 25% and power cut of 40% when compared to the chip's previous generations. In addition, the chip features a software-selectable operating mode that dissipates just 800 mW. The device integrates IF and low-noise amplifiers, an IF filter, filter components, and input controls. According to the company, it is the first such device to integrate the initial IF filter into a dual-conversion tuner, said to result in significant cost savings. Other cited features include low phase noise, low noise figure, high linearity, and immunity to interference in cable networks with differences in signal strength across the input frequency band. Price is $5 each/10,000. MICROTUNE INC., Plano, TX. (972) 673-1600.
